I’ve noticed a trend with the men I interview as part of my research on Men’s Health and Men’s Habits. The trend is that many men are slowly killing themselves with food, TV, social media, porn, and alcohol. All of these behaviors are not bad on their own and in moderation but many men I’ve interviewed, worked with or know personally are staying up late and combining as many of these activities as possible. Often after their significant other has already gone to bed.

With diabetes, obesity, heart disease, anxiety and depression at all time highs for men, something has got to change.

But why are so many men doing this? I know why I used to do it. And I know what it took, for me to break free from these compounding addictions. So I’ve got some insights. However this is a rich and complex question.

A colleague and I Shana James recently did a Facebook live conversation to discuss this exact question. Shana works with men on dating, relationships, sex and career. Together we created what I feel is a conversation well worth watching.
